Fort Rules & FAQ
1. Is there parking on-site?
Yes. Paid parking is available at Fort Adams, $12 per car if purchased in advance. Parking is $15.at the gate. Free shuttle buses take festival goers from Upper Lot to Entrance Gates. Bus parking is $ 20. Buses with groups can proceed to Lower Lot for drop off. Cars with handicapped stickers can proceed to closest lot. Free handicapped vans provide shuttle service to Entrance Gates.
2. Are there alternatives to driving to the Fort?
YES
BY BICYCLE: Ride your bike and reduce your carbon footprint! Bicycles are not allowed inside the festival grounds but can be locked in several areas of the park.
BY WATER SHUTTLE: The Water Ferry runs continuously from Old Port Dock on America’s Cup in the Mooring Restaurant parking lot and Fort Adams beginning at 8 AM. Cost is $5.00 round trip and no reservations are required.
BY BUS: There is bus service from downtown Newport to the festival site. Visit www.RIPTA.com for schedules.
3. Is there camping on-site?
Sorry, no camping is available at Fort Adams State Park but there are campgrounds not far from the festival grounds. Melville Ponds Campground in Portsmouth is 11 miles from the festival grounds and currently has spaces available. Call (401)682-2424. 4. How do I find out about services for people with disabilities?
Accessible parking and seating areas are available. Please ask a festival employee for more information for call the festival office at (401) 848-5055.
5. What can I bring with me?
YES...
- Only one small hand held cooler (no larger than 16x12) per person allowed
- Maximum size for individual blankets is 8'x 10'
- Low-backed chairs only (under 30") to ensure good viewing for your neighborsNO...
- No glass containers admitted. All coolers will be searched (even pickle/ mayonnaise jars will be confiscated)
- No alcohol, pets, bikes
- No beach umbrellas or anything that could obstruct the view of others except at the back of the house where shade items are allowed as space allows.
6. Is there anything for children at the festival?
YES: Look for the KIDSFARE signs at food tents for vendors offering complete kid's meals for $3.00.
For lost children: There is a Lost Child Station at the First Aid Tent. Locate the First Aid Tent at the end of the Museum of Yachting which is on your left as you round the corner to the festival seating area.
7. Is photographic or recording equipment permitted at the festival?
Hand held still cameras are permitted. Tripods are not advisable. Audio and video recording devices are NOT permitted.
